Surely, like me, you love discovering the newest places to eat. However, it's also wonderful to remember the places that have shaped our beautiful city. Join me on this nostalgic journey to past times filled with tradition and charm.

La Alemana

Founded in 1907, this place originally started as a “cantina” in the downtown area. Over time, it evolved into a traditional eatery, renowned for its "tortas ahogadas" , "enchiladas a la alemana", and amazing "riñones al Jerez".

Unfortunately, La Alemana recently closed its doors, leaving behind a remarkable culinary legacy loved by many families.

Birrieria El Paisano

Established in 1930 by Basilio Hernández, this was the first restaurant to settle in the iconic "Plaza de las 9 Esquinas". For almost 100 years, they have been preparing their iconic birria recipe, which remains one of the best in Guadalajara. It's not uncommon to visit in the afternoon only to find they have run out of birria due to its enduring popularity.

La Chata

Named after Doña Carmen Castorena Vázquez, La Chata has been delighting locals and tourists alike since 1942 with its traditional flavors passed down through generations. Make sure to try their exceptional pozole, and don't miss out on their great Mexican antojitos.

Find them on Instagram as @lachatademexicana.
